A grip edge is an added feature that many manufacturers and web sites provide to help ensure the correct fit of their knife to the user’s hand. This can be done by identifying a grip size by using one of two methods:
First, if you have access to a ruler or measuring tape, line it up vertically with your dominant hand and measure the length from the tip of your ring finger to the bottom horizontal line in your palm. The measurement should be between 4 inches and 4 3/4 inches for a standard grip size.
Second, if you have the chance to handle the knife in person, it is recommended to try out several different grip sizes, both with and without the addition of an overgrip. You may find that you are in between two grip sizes, but this is an easy way to narrow down your choice, and it will also give you a feel for the knife before making your purchase.

Finally, a good maker will be able to offer a full refund or an adjustment of the knife if it doesn’t fit you correctly. This is rare in the industry, and I believe it is one of the best ways to ensure that you are able to enjoy your new knife, as well as ensuring that you have a quality knife to carry on the battlefield.
This is why I recommend ordering the knife you wish to use online, but do so with a grip size in mind. This can be done in person with any of my knives, and if you do not have the opportunity to do this before ordering, I will be happy to send you an additional sample of a knife with a grip that fits your hands better.
