To highlight the biggest eSports events of 2023, we’re looking at a selection of some of the largest offline LAN tournaments on the calendar. This includes a mix of titles such as League of Legends, VALORANT and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
Attracting almost 4 million viewers at its peak, the 2022 World Championship was the most-watched event in League of Legends history. Featuring top 22 sides from across the globe fighting for the Summoner’s Cup, this event was a thrilling spectacle and featured memorable clashes between G2 Esports and SKT T1 and EDward Gaming and FunPlus Phoenix.

The next entry on our list is another tournament that featured a lot of North American talent. Taking place in a multi-purpose arena that held up to 6,293 people, the MLBB SEA Cup was a massively popular League of Legends event with a $300,000 prize pool and a LAN finals that saw top eight teams from the region compete.
The prestigious Intel Extreme Masters Katowice is one of the biggest CS:GO events of the year, with a 24-team tournament pitting the world’s best against each other for the chance to win the $250,000 grand prize. Last year’s champions FaZe Clan will be looking to retain their title in 2023, but they could face competition from the likes of Team Liquid, Heroic and Outsiders who all have strong chances to make it into the main draw.
