Paris Themed Birthday Party

Last year, I was able to write about some different birthday party themes we have used in our house over the years. I am super excited to share with you my daughter’s birthday party theme for this year! As you probably already guessed, my daughter chose a France theme or more specifically, Paris with a slight twist. Initially, she wanted mustaches. So we combined the two, of course!

My daughter has developed a love for all things Paris after watching the cute little movie called a “Monster in Paris.” If your daughter hasn’t seen it yet, it is super cute, but be prepared to hear about it a million times. I am not sure when the mustache obsession began for her. The trend of  loving anything mustache must have finally trickled down to her age group.

Anyway, back to the Paris birthday theme: I started by searching the internet for some pictures of various ideas and to see what supplies already existed that would fit our Paris theme. After some searching, I wasn’t too happy with what existed for kids that are my daughter’s age. Most Paris themes are geared more toward the toddlers and younger girls. Plus, most are the dreaded PINK, which apparently is a no-no for my daughter’s taste.

After saving a couple of pictures that I liked and that gave me some thoughts; I then discussed a color theme with my daughter. We decided to go with light blue, black and white. And off to Party City I went! I walked all the aisles to make sure I didn’t miss a thing. I went with a simple, light blue table cloth and was so excited to find some damask plates and the most adorable peacock feather napkins, both on clearance. I went with some striped party favor boxes with simple beads, mustache erasers, fancy swirl suckers (another lucky clearance find) the cutest mustache pens , and reusable mustache straws that I found.

Finally, I had to wrack my brain about what the centerpiece could be. I thought of a brilliant idea to utilize a simple glass vase and faux flowers I could get at a craft store. I thrilled to find the cutest patterns on the flowers and knew they could go in my daughter’s room, as an added bonus. I also came across an Eiffel tower necklace and jewelry holder. It had the added bonus as a birthday present/table piece. Finally, I came across cute little candle holders (like these) on clearance at party city and some simple damask papers that you typically will set cakes on for decoration, that I used as a table runner.

Finally, one cute as ever party theme complete after baking and decorating a cake and cupcakes.

And Voila! Le Paris!

What is your dream place to visit?
