Guardians of the Galaxy Easy Craft
My family is super excited about the upcoming release of “The Guardians of the Galaxy” movie. We can’t wait to go see it in the theater! In the meantime, I decided to come up with a fun craft for the whole family. Now, my kids are older, but they are so excited about the movie and characters that they were super excited about our fun project.
I decided making some character face plates would be a great craft for us to do. Plus they are super cute, easy and fun for all ages.
Of course, you will need to know all the details about the good guys. I saved you some effort on this one!
The heroes are a team of misfits that come together to fight against the evil villain, Ronan. The leader is Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord. As Star-Lord, he doesn’t possess any special powers, but utilizes his skills as a problem solver, extensive knowledge and master combat techniques. Rocket Raccoon is a genetically altered raccoon that was given human intelligence and enhanced senses, such as sight, smell and speed. He serves as Star-Lords second in command. Groot is the coolest looking tree you will ever see. He has the ability to regenerate his whole form. Gamora is the only female on the team and resident, highly-skilled former assassin. Drax the Destroyer, his name speaks for itself, was created with superhuman strength.
Now that you have a feel for the characters, we can choose one or do like we did here, and create them all.
You will need to gather the following items for your craft.
I started out decided whether to color or utilize construction paper on each paper plate. Then I did some with eye holes, some without. Gamora is pretty simple. She doesn’t have any standout characteristics besides being green. I colored her green and added some nice red lips. I designed Groot by coloring the plate brown, trimming the edges and adding in some facial features. I then glued some popsicle sticks to the top of the plate for his branch like extensions. I let them dry over night and then colored them brown, too. Drax got some green construction paper and I cut out some tattoo-looking red construction paper designs, for him. Finally, Star-Lord and Rocket Raccoon took a little more work in cutting out the right shapes and patterns. Star-Lord wears a pretty cool looking mask, so I had to create it. I utilized black construction paper, cut brown goggle shapes, oval for the goggle center, and black and grey for his mouth regulator. Rocket is a typical raccoon, with his cool mask colors.
Our craft was super fun and easy. We enjoyed playing with them, after we were finished. Rocket Raccoon seems to be the favorite character, in our house. I am working on making a second Rocket Raccoon mask to eliminate the battle over him.
